Stir-Crazy at 38,000 Feet

(i)

It’s small

It’s very small

It’s much too small
And it only has two engines.

They can’t expect to fly me all the way to California
On two engines?

Omigod we’re moving

We’re moving backwards

Why are we moving backwards?
Since when did aircraft take off backwards?
They never take off backwards in the movies
Not even Bruce Willis movies…

(ii)

Greenland and Iceland
might just as well have fallen off the map:
I’m the meat in the centre aisle sandwich and
all I can see is a few square feet of aerofoil
and escape means trampling the salad and rye either side.

No hot towel, thank you:
I couldn’t eat another thing….
